Earlier, Ukrainian basketball players lost to the Italians in the selection for the 2023 World Cup
Center team of Ukraine Dmitry Skapintsev commented on the upcoming match against Italy on the EuroBasket 2022.
Recall that in August, the Ukrainian national team lost to Italy in the qualifying match for the 2023 World Cup – 89:97.
“Regarding the next match, it is very important for us to take revenge on the Italians for the defeat. I believe that we should have won that match, and now we can take revenge in front of the Italian fans. Why not? I don’t think this team is stronger than us. It will also be very interesting to play with Greece. An experienced team with top Euroleague and NBA players, it will be interesting to play against Giannis. The matches will be difficult, and I am sure that we will be able to impose a fight.
“We need to play more disciplined and confident against the Italians than in Riga. There were a few whistles in that match that I thought broke our game. We became very worried about this, paying attention to the judges and losing concentration. Therefore, I believe that here we have to play with more restraint, control emotions and fight for every ball with a cool head and a warm heart.”
Match Italy – Ukraine will play today, September 5. The beginning is at 22:00 Kyiv time.
Also, the blue-yellows will play with Greece (September 6) and Croatia (September 8) as part of the EuroBasket 2022 group stage. The four best teams from the group will advance to the 1/8 finals.
Recall that the Ukrainian national team won two opening matches of the group stage of the European Championship 2022. The Ukrainians defeated Great Britain (90:61) and Estonia (74:73).
