Russian referee believes Turkey-Georgia match at EuroBasket can be replayed

The Russian basketball referee believes there is every reason to replay the European Championship game between Turkey and Georgia due to miscarriages of justice.

The meeting ended with the victory of the Georgian national team in extra time with the score of 88:83. The match was overshadowed by a scandal: in the fourth quarter there was a fight between players Furkan Korkmaz and Duda Sanadze, after which both were kicked off the field and 22 seconds were taken off the playing time. Turkey lodged an official protest.

– There is every reason to replay the match. But this decision will be taken by a special commission of FIBA. 22 seconds wasted in the second half of the last quarter in a draw is a serious foul. For the time being, the complaint is accepted, unlike the forgotten technical free kick that took place during the match between Germany and Lithuania. One can only guess what decision the commission will make. Replay the match or “punish” the judges and slow down by leaving everything as it is? There can be both options. The main thing is that the protest is executed correctly. Because 90% of all claims are rejected due to non-compliance with formal requirements, – quotes the words of the referee “Championship”.
