NBA: Ben Simmons could be out of the Nets next season

Still not on the court for the Nets, Ben Simmons still has his future uncertain in the NBA after being traded for James Harden in February

After not playing in the 2021/2022 NBA, the permanence of Ben Simmons at the Brooklyn Nets is increasingly questionable. The winger has been with the New York franchise since the exchange for James Hardenwho ended up joining the cast of Philadelphia 76ers. According to reporter Shams Charania, the squad’s coaches and players wish Simmons had played Game 4 against Boston Celticsin the playoffs.

The player stated that he would enter the court, but ended up not complying due to complaints of back pain. The ex-Sixers even explained that the origin of these pains is a “mental block”, due to the unfolding of the 2020/2021 playoffs. Game 4 nailed the sweep of the Celtics in the step, which eliminated the nets of the season.

Information released by journalist Kevin O’Connor, from the “The Ringer” podcast, indicates that the Nets’ board monitors possible scenarios for the winger. Although they do not rule out any decision, a source reinforced that the moment is one of caution: “We’re at a point where we want to see him on the court first, but nobody trusts him anymore.”

In addition to emotional arguments, the player adds other physical problems to solve before deciding to return to the courts. According to information released by the American ESPN journalist, Nick Friedellthe ward was diagnosed with a herniated disc. Steve Nashsaid at the time that he was optimistic about the recovery of shirt 10:

“He had it [hérnia de disco] a few years ago. In fact, he has suffered from it at times throughout his career. I also had the same problems when I was a player. You feel great one day and the next week things change, or it could be a long term thing. So we have to be patient and see how he recovers.”
