2020 NBA Draft No. 1, guard Minnesota Wolves Anthony Edwards has apologized for a homophobic comment he made in a social media video, Marca report.
Edwards previously posted a video in which he spoke unethically about a group of shirtless, muscular white men talking on the street.
“What I said was hurtful and disrespectful, and I’m sorry. It’s unacceptable for me or anyone to use such offensive language, there’s no justification for that. I was raised better than I didn’t behave!” Edwards apologized on his Twitter.
“We are disappointed with Anthony Edwards’ words and actions on social media. The Timberwolves strive to be an inclusive and hospitable organization for all, we apologize for the offense this has caused to many,” said club president Tim Connelly.
The NBA is investigating Edwards’ comments.
The association has already fined top players such as Kobe Bryant ($100,000), Nikola Jokic ($25,000), Kevin Durant ($50,000) and Rajon Rondo for making homophobic comments.
