The National Basketball Association (NBA) released the results of the investigation against the owners of the clubs “Phoenix Suns” and Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) Robert Sarver. The statement was posted on the league’s social media.
The League has been investigating Sarver since November 2021, interviewing 320 witnesses. The investigation revealed incidents of racism, employee abuse, inappropriate comments related to gender or sexual orientation and disrespectful remarks towards staff.
The businessman was found guilty of misogyny and racism. Sarver has been suspended from managing the club for a year and must undergo training on proper treatment and respect for staff. He will not be able to appear in the arena of any club in the league or participate in any official NBA event, including training.
In addition, the businessman will pay a fine of 10 million dollars, the maximum monetary penalty provided for by American law.
