The President of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine reacted to the news about the removal of Prometheus from the championship.
There is another strong scandal in Ukrainian basketball. After the president of Prometheus, Vladimir Dubinsky, announced a double standard in the FBU, and the withdrawal of his team from the championship, the federation published a tough response.
“I consider Mr. Dubinsky’s appeal to the basketball community as a false insult to me personally and the entire Basketball Federation of Ukraine, and at the same time blackmail.
I do not want to go into details – I am annoyed, but why Prometheus should pay, in addition to the usual contribution of 40 thousand hryvnias, an additional 4.5 million, I will tell you in detail today.
I will say right away that I have seen many people like Dubinsky Ukrainian basketball in its 30-year history, this is not the first and not the last.
It all started with the fact that FBU applied for Prometheus in the Champions League for the club to participate in this tournament, having previously discussed it with him.
After that, Mr. Dubinsky called me and unexpectedly asked me to play in the Eurocup. Everyone understands that this is an unofficial organization that does not cooperate with FIBA and is a private tournament.
Obviously, I did not support this wish and, in other words, it made me angry. Since spring, FBU has been cooperating with FIBA
Actually, the entire basketball system in Ukraine is built under the FIBAvertical. At the same time, our national champion, who previously applied for participation in the Champions League, still enters the Eurocup – this is an open spit in the direction of FIBA and FBU.
We apologized publicly to FIBA, I personally had a dialogue with the president of FIBA-Europe, Turgay Demirel, during the European Championship. Of course, Prometheus has nothing to do with this, as well as with the image of Ukrainian basketball.
Now I understand that the club does not want to play in the Ukrainian championship, it is more comfortable for them in the Latvian-Estonian league.
For years, Prometheus received his own name thanks to his bags of money, but money can’t buy everything. Mr. Dubinsky did not seem to understand this.
They want to buy Ukrainian clubs playing in the Super League and influence the situation in the championship and even the executive committee, this is the next step of the “patrons”.
To buy it, of course, is strongly said – to throw a handout in the amount of a million hryvnias. First, there are three clubs that should receive money from Prometheus, but I think this is just the beginning.
Next, “Prometheus” appeared in the aforementioned Latvian-Estonian league and in the summer started stories in the Baltic states about its magnificent budget of 200 million hryvnias.
Ainars (Bagatskis) recruited me and said that Prometheus’ people are walking in Riga and terrorizing everyone, that they will double the budget of the club and drive everyone here to -40.
This is at a time when we are asking the Latvian authorities for help to organize a training camp for the national team. And generally, in a war, these are very false statements.
By the way, even now “Prometheus” will not interfere with fulfilling its promise and helping Zaporozhye, Nikolaev and Kryvbas.
Considering the above, the FBU executive committee voted for an additional contribution of 4.5 million hryvnias to the Ukrainian championship for Prometheus, as he performs in parallel in the European Cup tournament, which is not held under the auspices of FIBA.
By the way, Budivelnik entered a legitimate tournament – the Champions League, where he will represent Ukraine and Ukrainian basketball, for which I am very grateful to the club.
The Executive Committee also decided that the entire amount of Prometheus’ additional contribution will go to help Ukrainian clubs participate in the Ukrainian Championship.
I believe that this amount is too small for the current situation, Dubinsky also got 100 million.
Another curious moment. For several years, the FBU has been moving toward transparency in the conduct of business in professional sports. We asked the FBU to provide the first pages of Prometheus players’ contracts.
Dubinsky was expected to ignore it. At the same time, I want all fans to understand when he shouted: “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine” – what was behind it.
And behind it is the club’s budget of 200,000 million hryvnias, which he earned in Ukraine thanks to Ukrainians, and will spend abroad on tournaments that Ukrainian fans and he himself will not be able to enter. Why – let him say.
I think that if Prometheus gave the first pages of the players’ contracts to the fans, it would be very interesting for what personal ambitions of Mr. Dubinsky the men from the Armed Forces of Ukraine are dying for.
Now Prometheus has to do three things: pay a fee of 40,000 hryvnias for participation in the championship, pay an additional fee of 4.5 million hryvnias, and provide the first pages of the players’ contracts.
And then Mr. can have fun. Dubinsky as much as he wanted. It seems that he is allowed to do this, because he has a significant roof, if he allows himself such statements. We saw his behavior without a roof.
In general, I also propose a roll-call vote of the members of the FBU executive committee on the issue of additional contributions to BC Prometheus.
Vote: “FOR” – (13)
Brodsky M. Yu., Drabikovsky VV, Volkov AA, Zubritsky Ya.Ya., Kolobov Yu.V., Lishchuk SV, Shabanova LA, Shchipakina IV, Podkovirov A .A., Zherzherunova NA, Skutelnikor Ryzhik AV, Skutelnikor Ryzhik AV
“Fight” – (1) Raevsky OA,
“Abstained” – (1) Elkinson VA
The decision was made by the majority of votes,” Brodsky was quoted as saying by the FBU’s official website.
