Bagatskis led our team to the 1/8 finals of EuroBasket-2022
Ukrainian ex-basketball player Stanislav Medvedenko praised the work of the head coach of the national team Ainars Bagatskis.
“To be honest, I am not a fan of Ainars Bagatskis. Yes, I think this summer he failed to reveal the potential of our team, the question is open whether someone can do it. But he definitely doesn’t deserve the hate. Understanding what kind of work Ainars did and what emotions he experienced together with our players, I want to thank him and wish him victories in the future.”
Earlier, Bagatskis announced the completion of work in Ukraine – with the national team and the Kyiv-Basket club.
The mentor will not renew the contract with the Kyiv club. As for the national team, according to Bagatskis, everything depends on subsequent negotiations with the FBU.
Recall that the Latvian coach led the national team of Ukraine and Kyiv-Basket in May 2019. Previously, he worked in Ukraine with Kryvbas and Budivelnyk.
Bagatskis led the blue-yellows to the finals of EuroBasket 2022. At the tournament, the Ukrainians reached the 1/8 finals, where they lost to Poland. In the group, our team won three fights and took second place.
With Kyiv-Basket, the coach became the vice-champion of Ukraine. Also at the head of the Kyiv club, Bagatskis reached the quarterfinals of the FIBA Europe Cup.
