Antetokounmpo says European basketball is harder than NBA

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was candid about the NBA and highlighted the main differences between the league and the practice of the sport in the Old Continent.

Giannis Antetokounmpostar of NBA fur Milwaukee Bucks, was candid about the difficulty level of the sport in the North American league compared to the practice on the European continent. The pivot played for Greece, his native country, in the last edition of the EuroBasketand consolidated himself as the championship scorer.

“The game in Europe is much more difficult than in the NBA”nailed Giannis. “The talent in the NBA is obviously bigger. I think it’s more intense there. People defend you on full court, the lines close and it’s a lot more physical. I don’t know if they are more physical because you have less talent. For a kid like me who came out of nowhere, I think the NBA weighed on me a little bit.”

The All-Star added: “When you go abroad, things are not the same. Things are easy here, don’t take their toll, we’re beyond blessed”. Antetokounmpo also highlighted how it was defending the team in Europe; the 27-year-old Greek averaged 29.3 points and 8.8 rebounds.

“It was a great experience, I had fun. It was the first time I saw people committed. Even though we were one medal game away, people had hope and it was the most incredible thing. They followed us on the road everywhere we went. We went and they applauded us. Representing the national team is a big thing. You represent the whole country. I think six or seven million people watched the games.”said.

In addition, the 2020/2021 NBA champion revealed how he presents himself for the return of disputes in the United States: “A little tired physically and mentally, but I’m excited for the season. You end up worn out. It takes a break not only physically, but also mentally, to get away from the game and spend time with your family, doing what you love. You need to be great afterwards. It looks bad, but you have to.”
