President of the VTB United Basketball League Sergei Kushchenko reacted to the information on the possible suspension of the championship.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on September 21 a partial mobilization in the country.
“Now we are preparing for the start of the season. And we have not yet received any messages not to start. We are quickly clarifying all points with the Ministry of Sports and the government,” Kushchenko told reporters.
The new VTB United League season kicks off on October 2. From September 22 to 25, Moscow hosted the VTB United League Super Cup, the winner of which was Zenit St. Petersburg.
