The national team will also skip the upcoming world championships due to the participation of the aggressor countries in them.
Ukraine will boycott the men’s and women’s world boxing championships due to the entry of Russians and Belarusians into the competitions. This was announced by the vice-president of the Boxing Federation of our country, Oleg Ilchenko.
It can be recalled that Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States and Ireland, Great Britain, Canada, Sweden and the Netherlands previously refused to travel to the planetary championship due to the participation of aggressor countries in the tournament.
“Our answer is clear: our athletes and representatives of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine do not perform where the representatives of the aggressor countries will perform – it is Russia and Belarus,” Suspilne quoted Ilchenko as saying.
In addition, the functionary announced his readiness to boycott the 2024 Olympics in Paris, if Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate.
“The main position is: as long as the war is going on and as long as the Russian troops are on the territory of our state, they all appeal that they will not act,” said Ilchenko.
Recall that earlier the President of the NOC, Vadim Gutzeit, said that Ukrainian athletes could boycott the Olympics if the Russians were admitted.
