“Would Volkanovski agree to fight me on three days’ notice? I think so. I consider him a true champion, a tough competitor who is ready to fight no matter how difficult it is for him. And I am sure that the amount that Alexander asked for, it would be completely different,” Makhachev said at a press conference.
Recall that the rematch between Makhachev and Volkanovski is scheduled for the night of October 21-22 in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and will be the main event of the UFC 294 tournament.
Their first meeting took place at UFC 284 in February and ended with Makhachev winning via unanimous decision. For Volkanovski, the current UFC featherweight champion, it was his first defeat in the organization.
