English golfer Charley Hull is buzzing to represent Team Europe at the 2026 Solheim Cup at Bernardus Golf, making her eighth consecutive appearance in the competition.
European captain Anna Nordqvist praised the 30-year-old's enthusiasm and growing role while clearing up a minor incident that saw Hull arrive a couple of minutes late for her Tuesday practice round tee time.
Nordqvist noted that Hull was the final European player to land in the Netherlands, travelling from the United Kingdom on Monday under an agreed preparation schedule.
"In the process leading up to the event, I wanted to make sure that every player got the opportunity to prepare as well for the event," Nordqvist explained during her pre-tournament press conference. "I flew in on the Saturday, some of the US-based girls flew in on Sunday. For Charley, we decided that she was going to be better off preparing being in home in England. She flew in yesterday [Monday] but it has been very nice to see her."
Nordqvist, who has played alongside Hull in past editions, emphasized how much the Englishwoman has embraced her position within Team Europe as they attempt to regain the trophy against Angela Stanford's Team USA. "I've been part of basically every single team that Charley's been on and I will say it's been really nice to see how much she is starting to embrace the whole Solheim atmosphere," Nordqvist said. "I've had multiple conversations with her and it is just nice to see how excited she is. It's just been really nice to see Charley excited and here buzzing about teeing it up this week."
Practice round schedule and tee time delay
Hull was scheduled to begin Tuesday's practice round alongside European teammates Lottie Woad, Maja Stark and Linn Grant at 9:30am local time. However, she arrived at the tee a couple of minutes late before catching up with the rest of the group on the course.
Team Europe vice-captain Mel Reid took responsibility for the delay, explaining that Hull was focused on her range routine and misjudged the timing. "She was late to the tee because I was responsible for her, so I'll take a little bit of responsibility to that," Reid said. "She just thought her tee time was a little bit later. Trying to drag Charley Hull off a driving range is a feat in any tournament, especially a Solheim [Cup]."
Reid added: "She was literally late because one, I couldn't drive drag her off the driving range, and, two, she thought her tee time was five minutes later than it was."
Nordqvist explained that the routing layout at Bernardus Golf contributed to the group splitting at the start. Players faced a five to 10 minute walk from the practice range to the third hole, where practice rounds commenced instead of the traditional first hole. "I was on the first tee this morning and obviously I told the first three girls to go, because there's a little bit of a hike given that we start on the third hole and not the course first hole this week," Nordqvist said. "It takes a good, five, 10 minutes to get out there [from the range]. I told the first tee to go ahead and then Charley would just catch up, because we knew she was on the way."
Charley Hull Solheim Cup career achievements
Although only 30 years old, Hull brings extensive experience to Team Europe, having featured in every Solheim Cup since making her debut as a 17-year-old in 2013, making her the youngest competitor in tournament history at the time.
Hull holds the record for the most matches won by any player in Solheim Cup history before turning 30, with 15 match victories. Her career highlights include finishing as Europe's top point-scorer during the 2015 contest and completing an unbeaten campaign during the 2019 victory at Gleneagles.
In the previous Solheim Cup in 2024, Hull delivered a standout singles performance by defeating world number one Nelly Korda 6&4 to secure the first point of the final day for Team Europe.
Tournament schedule and broadcast details
The Solheim Cup is the premier biennial team match play competition in women's professional golf, pitting Team Europe against Team USA in alternate shot foursomes, best-ball fourballs, and individual singles matches. Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands, hosts the 2026 edition from September 11 to September 13.
Official pre-tournament proceedings begin on Thursday with the opening ceremony at 4:30pm local time, where the opening-day match pairings will be revealed.
Live match action begins on Friday, September 11. The morning foursomes matches on Friday and Saturday will tee off at 6:40am, which is 7:40am local time in the Netherlands. Live broadcast coverage starts at 6:00am on Sky Sports Golf, with at least 12 hours of live coverage scheduled for each of the first two days.
The afternoon fourballs sessions on Friday and Saturday are scheduled to start at 12:05pm (1:05pm local time), with live coverage running until after the final putt is holed. On Sunday, September 13, singles coverage begins at 9:00am ahead of the opening tee shot at 10:10am.
Following the conclusion of play and the crowning of the 2026 Solheim Cup winners on Sunday, Sky Sports+ will broadcast live coverage of the closing ceremony from 5:30pm.
