Colombia broke a 3-3 tie with a seven-run fifth inning to rout Mexico 12-3 in the baseball tournament at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo.

Colombia’s baseball team erupted for seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to blow open a tied game and rout Mexico 12-3 at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The score stood at 3-3 entering the fifth when Colombia’s offense turned on Mexico’s relief pitching. The rally opened with two consecutive bases-loaded walks that put Colombia ahead, and Darío Borrero followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 7-3. Jaider Morelos, Carlos Arroyo, and Tito Polo each added their own RBI hits to complete the seven-run outburst. Colombia was not done: two more runs in the sixth inning rounded out the scoring.

Top performers

Jesús Marriaga paced Colombia’s lineup, going 2-for-2 and crossing the plate four times. Andrés Salcedo drove in two runs and scored twice, while Darío Borrero finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. For Mexico, Carlos Báez was the lone offensive standout, going 2-for-2 with a run scored.
