Copa do Brasil Quarterfinal Draw Set for Tuesday

CBF draws the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals Tuesday, with first legs August 26 and a R$9 million prize awaiting semifinalists.

Copa do Brasil Quarterfinal Draw Set for Tuesday

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) holds the draw for the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals on Tuesday, August 11. The matchups will decide the four semifinalists of the competition.

First-leg matches are scheduled for August 26, a Wednesday. The return legs will follow a week later, on September 3, also a Wednesday. The CBF has not yet released exact kickoff times or venues.

Prize money at stake

Advancing to the semifinals guarantees a payout of R$9 million. The eight clubs that reached the quarterfinals have already earned that same amount, meaning whoever advances will double their total earnings from the tournament.

Semi-automated offside technology

This edition of the quarterfinals will introduce semi-automated offside technology. The system can be used because all eight participating clubs compete in Serie A of the Campeonato Brasileiro and already have the necessary infrastructure at their stadiums.

Qualified teams

The eight clubs that secured a place in the quarterfinals are Atletico Mineiro, Cruzeiro, Gremio, Internacional, Palmeiras, Santos, Vasco da Gama and Vitoria. The CBF draw has no restrictions, meaning any pairing between the teams is possible at this stage of the competition.
