Eintracht Frankfurt have signed defensive midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge, the German Bundesliga club announced Sunday.
The 25-year-old Nigerian international has signed a contract with the Frankfurt club through 2031. Onyedika has made 26 appearances for the Nigerian national team, which narrowly missed qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche said Onyedika impressed the club not only with his robustness and tactical understanding but above all with his exceptional consistency. Krösche added that at 25, Onyedika still has significant development potential and represents an important building block for the squad’s structure.
Frankfurt had already pursued Onyedika the previous summer but the transfer fell through because Brugge demanded too much money. With Onyedika’s contract at Brugge set to expire in 2027, the Belgian club faced pressure to secure a fee this summer. The transfer fee is reported to be around nine million euros, plus possible bonuses.
