Paulo Autuori is announced as new coach of Colombian club

Paulo Autuori left the position of technical director of Internacional to take over the Colombian club; he’s been in Colorado since April of this year

Paulo Author was announced as the new head coach of the Atlético Nacionalfrom Colombia, this Monday, 03. The Brazilian left the position of technical director of the International after six months to take over the Medellin club in his second spell. Before, he led the Colombian team between 2018 and 2019.

The coach’s return to Colombian football was a surprise, as there was no speculation about the director’s departure. He will arrive at Atlético to replace Pedro Sarmiento, interim coach who will lead the team until October 13, in the match against Once Caldas.

“Atlético Nacional welcomes Professor Paulo Autuori, Brazilian coach who is a two-time champion in America, world champion and champion in several countries, with several teams. Autuori, who was coach of Atlético Nacional in 2018 and 2019, will be presented on Thursday, October 13, in the morning. After that, he will start his second stint in the Colombian football champion”, wrote the Colombian team in the official statement.

Athletico-PR was the last team led by Paulo Autuori, who left the position of coordinator of the club to assume the vacant post after the resignation of Dorival Júnior. He was also technical coordinator of Goiás before arriving at Internacional, as part of the president’s promise Alessandro Barcellos.

Inter in the field

Vice-leader of the current edition of the Brazilian Championship, Internacional faces Flamengo next Wednesday, 05, from 21:30 (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the dispute of the 30th round. The gaucho team has 53 points so far and is seven behind the leader Palmeiras in the final stretch of the national competition.
