Coach Joshua: Anthony Wouldn’t Rush Wilder, Use His Boxing Skills

Robert Garcia celebrates Deontay’s powerful punch

Robert Garciaformer world champion coach Anthony Joshuatold how he sees the potential fight of his ward with another ex-world champion Deontay Wilder.

“I think Anthony has great skills. He will fight smart. He doesn’t need to come out and rush at Wilder as Joshua also risks a miss. He has a good jab, great boxing skills, so you need to use them to win the fight.”

“The punch that Wilder knocked out Helenius didn’t look heavy. It tells you how hard he hits. I’ve never felt his power, but from what I’ve seen, Wilder hits insanely hard. But Anthony Joshua also has a powerful punch. I felt his power.”

Wilder had previously suggested to Joshua that they fight together in Africa. The American believes that the fight would become the number one boxing event in the world.

Deontay defeated Robert Helenius in his last fight. The American knocked out his opponent in the first round.

In August, Joshua lost by split decision to Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Anthony has been in talks with WBC champion Tyson Fury for a fight in late 2022. However, the parties could not agree on the final details of the contract.
