Chelsea confirm Kante will be out for another four months

Chelsea announce the return of midfielder N’Golo Kanté for early 2023, which removes any possibility of the player playing in the Qatar World Cup

Through an official communiqué published this Tuesday, 18th, the Chelsea informed that the player N’Golo Kante31, underwent surgery on his thigh and the forecast to return to the pitch is only for February 2023. In this way, the French midfielder is already a certain embezzlement for his team in the Qatar World Cup.

According to the English club, the decision to undergo the surgical procedure was made jointly: by the athlete and the team’s doctors. Kante suffered an injury to his hamstring earlier this season and, on top of that, has suffered a relapse in recent weeks. “Kante underwent an operation on his hamstring injury. After a successful operation, N’Golo is expected to be sidelined for four months.”, reported Chelsea.

This season, the French midfielder played only two official games for the club, the last on August 14, against tottenham, in which he was injured. When he was removed, the expectation was that the player would be able to recover until the World Cup, but now, hopes have fallen to the ground.

Kante was part of the 2018 World Cup champion squad in Russia. In a team that changed its strategy over the course of the competition, the defensive midfielder was a starter in all of France’s matches in the historic campaign that secured his country’s second world title. Undoubtedly, the Chelsea player was one of the highlights of the conquest and will be missed by his team in Qatar.

Counting on this embezzlement, the France coach, Didier Deschamps, is expected to announce the list of the 23-26 squad for the World Cup on November 9. Injuries have been a big problem for the French, who have played the last few rounds of the Nations League without some of their key players.
