Athletes and activists call for the removal of the Iranian Football Federation for violating women’s rights in the country

The letter was written on behalf of women’s rights activists in collaboration with a Spanish law firm. Iranian fans claim that women’s rights are regularly violated in the country. It is noted that if the state systematically restricts women’s access to football competitions, this violates the FIFA statutes.
Earlier it was reported that the Open Stadiums organization appealed to FIFA President Giani Infantino with a demand to exclude the Iranian national team from the finals of the 2022 World Cup. Activists said there is no guarantee that the state will allow women to attend football competitions after the end of the World Cup.
The Iranian national team was in Group B, where they should play with England, the USA and Wales. The 2022 World Cup will take place from November 20 to December 18.
