Former World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua postponed his return to the ring until 2023.
Previously, the Briton planned to hold his next fight on December 17. Potential opponents were Otto Valin and Chris Arreola. However, after the failure of negotiations with WBC champion Tyson Fury, Anthony decided to postpone his return to the ring.
Anthony’s promoter Eddie Hearn has scheduled a series of fights to get the Briton back for another world title fight. Plans changed when Joshua began negotiations with Fury, which ended in failure. With the confirmation of Tyson’s fight with Derek Chisora on December 3, Joshua no longer sees the need for a quick return to the ring.
In August, Joshua lost by split decision to Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
