Palmeiras beats Universidad de Chile, confirms 100% success in the first phase and advances as leader of Group C of the Women’s Libertadores
O palm trees won the University of Chile by 2-1 on the night of last Thursday, 20th, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Libertadores as leader of Group C. The Palestrinas had goals from Carol Rodrigues and poliana to close the first phase of the continental competition with 100% success.
Now, the alviverde team faces the Santiago Morning in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores. The table for the knockout stage will still be released by Conmebol. Despite the defeat, the Chileans advanced as vice-leader of the group and took the America de Calileader of Group D.

Verdão has 100% success so far, with three wins in three rounds. The Brazilian team still scored 12 goals and conceded just one. Group C still had Independiente del Valle and Sportivo Limpeño.
The game
Classified in advance, Palmeiras entered the field with the alternative team and saw a balanced first half practically throughout the stage, with chances created by both sides. The alviverde team opened the scoring only in the 41st minute, when Byanca Brasil took the corner and Carol headed it in: 1-0.
In the second half, Universidad de Chile needed just three minutes to tie the score. In the bid, Camilinha committed a penalty, and Gabriela Huerta didn’t waste the charge: 1 to 1.
Palmeiras’ second goal was scored in the 25th minute. After a free kick, Poliana deflected it with a header after the ball was raised in the area and put Verdão back in the lead: 2 to 1.
