Obviously, no one expected Empoli to accomplish the feat in Turin. A repeat of last year’s success was difficult for several reasons, chief among which was the mood of Juventus, “pissed off” at a somewhat unfortunate start to the season. Empoli performed at the stadium serenely and carefree, especially after the home win over Monza. And we saw it in the very first minutes of the game. The Azzurri did not succumb to the influence of the environment, they tried to use their closest weapons in spirit – dribbling and rhythm. Even after the missed first ball, they did not disperse. They got the ball back in their hands and at times managed to put Juventus in a difficult position.
