Sampaoli and Sevilla can’t cope with Real Madrid swap deal

Visiting the Santiago Bernabéu, the Casildense team lost 3-1 on La Liga Matchday 11. The Andalusians improved in the second half, but it wasn’t enough against the Hispanic tournament leader, who lacked Benzema.

On his return to Seville in Spain, jorge sampaoli had to face significant challenges in a short time. One of them happened this Saturday, visiting Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. For the eleventh date of LaLiga, the Andalusians could not cope with the solidity and skill of the Whites, who won 3-1.

The great absence of meringues was that of Karim Benzema . The French striker, recent winner of the France Football 2022 Ballon d’Or, was unable to take part in the match due to muscle fatigue. In his place, Carlo Ancelotti placed the Brazilian Rodrygo, giving speed to the attack complementing Vinícius and Fede Valverde. For their part, the Andalusians went to Chamartín with the aim of getting a point and moving up the table, which shows them below average.

Madrid opened the account earlier. They just spent five minutes and Luka Modric made it 1-0 , connecting the ball after a cross from Vinícius, who had produced an exceptional game on the left wing. That goal was enough to enter the break with an advantage. Although possession of the ball was distributed in the first period (50% for each), Sampaoli’s men did not bother goalkeeper Courtois much, who resumed his starting role.

For the complement, the Nervión team added more uncertainty to the match, because in the 54th minute he equalized with a goal from Erik Lamela. The Argentinian defines himself with class in front of the hold of Courtois after a deep assistance from the side Gonzalo Montiel. The Casildense DT team improved for the second half, assimilating the process of the encounter.

The European champion was absent. For the same reason, Ancelotti made changes to give it a refresh to theirs. He made three edits and one of them was Lucas Vázquez. The inclusion of the player was a full session for the Italian coach, because in the 79th minute he scored 2-1 , defining with a free goal after a pass from Vinícius. And two minutes later a fine goal from Fede Valverde extends the distance and removes any doubt about the outcome of the engagement. A superb shot from the Uruguayan stopped goalkeeper Bono.

with victory, Real Madrid reaffirm their place at the top of La Liga with 31 points. He takes six units away from second-placed Barcelona. The Catalans play this Sunday against Athletic Bilbao, at the Spotify Camp Nou. Besides the clash between Catalans and Basques, tomorrow’s other big duel will be between Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis and Diego Simeone’s Atlético, at the Benito Villamarín. They both have 20 points. The winner is settled in the Champions League qualifying zone.

While Sampaoli’s Sevilla remain in 14th place, with 10 units.
