Lucescu: We had to return Ukrainian football players from abroad

Romanian admitted mistakes made in the offseason

Dynamo head coach Mircea Lucescu after a draw with Vorskla (1:1) in the 9th round, the UPL focused on the mistake that the club’s management made during the summer transfer window.

“Yes, it’s a problem [с форвардом] there is. I expect more growth from Vanat. He has all the qualities of a striker that can make him a good striker. We are waiting for him to gain experience and skills.”

“Our mistake was that we relied on our personnel, and in the very delicate situation in which Ukraine found itself, we had to react – to return Ukrainian football players from abroad. This is what other clubs have done. We needed to strengthen at the expense of the Ukrainians who performed abroad.”

The recruits of the Kyiv club in the past transfer window were wingers Kaheem Parris and Vladislav Kabaev, midfielder Justin Lonwijk, and midfielder Samba Diallo.

22-year-old Parris signed a four-year contract with Dynamo with the option of extending for another season. Lonwijk signed a five-year contract with the Kievans, moving from Viborg for two million euros.

Kabaev moved to the camp of Dynamo from Dawn – the midfielder signed a four-year contract with the people of Kiev. 19-year-old Diallo has been in the blue-and-white system since last summer, but the midfielder was promoted to the first team in early October.

Dynamo is in eighth place in the Premier League. On October 30, the white-and-blues will host Kryvbas in the next round of the Ukrainian Championship.
