Jonathan Woodgate joins new coaching staff

Former Manchester United midfielder and manager Michael Carrick officially headed Middlesbrough.

Earlier it was reported that Carrick agreed on the terms of a personal contract. He will be assisted by former England international and ex-Bournemouth coach Jonathan Woodgate.

Carrick retired in 2018. Since then, Michael has been on the Manchester United coaching staff and also interim head coach of Manchester United in 2021.

In early October, Middlesbrough fired head coach Chris Wilder. The team was temporarily managed by Leo Perkovich, who will henceforth be responsible for youth development at the club.

Middlesbrough is 21st in the Championship. Carrick’s next match will be against Preston on 29 October.
