Sudakov: Opponents are about the same level, you can fight for first place in the group at the Youth Euro

Ukraine will play with Spain, Croatia and Romania

Midfielder youth team of Ukraine Georgy Sudakov commented on the draw of the final part European Championship 2023 among U-21 teams. The midfielder believes that the Ukrainian team can fight for the victory in the group.

“The draw could have been worse or better, but I’m glad that Romania fell out of the second basket. Croatia is not a gift, and Spain will be considered the favorite of our group. However, I think that our opponents are about the same level, you can play and win with everyone. I think we can take first place in the group, but this is on condition that we manage to show our best football.”

The Euro 2023 draw brought Ukraine into quartet B with Romania, Croatia and Spain. The two best teams from each quartet will advance to the playoffs of the European Youth Championship.

Recall that the final part of Euro 2023 U-21 will be held in Georgia and Romania from June 21 to July 8 next year. The top three teams of the youth Euro 2023 (except France and England) will receive tickets to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Ukraine will play at the European Championship for the third time in its history. In 2011, the blue-and-yellows, led by Pavel Yakovenko, finished last in the group. At the 2006 European Championship, under the leadership of Alexei Mikhailichenko, the youth team reached the final, where they lost to the Netherlands (0:3).
