Sport Arena names the symbolic team of the next UPL round of the 2022/23 season
Goalkeeper – Bogdan Sarnavsky (Kryvbas)
There were enough bright goalkeeper performances on the tour, but someone spoiled the impression with an unsuccessful game in the end, while others made gross mistakes with spectacularity. Therefore, we note Sarnavsky: even with an equal score and the number of players on the field, he really saved the nominal owners during a clean one-on-one with Marusich, successfully played in several more episodes and conceded only once in a difficult situation, when this no longer shook the advantage his commands.
Right back – Vlodymir Adamyuk (SC Dnipro-1)
He ironed his right flank clean, repeatedly dangerously joining attacks. He punched himself, and from his innings the Dnipro team could well have scored. At a minimum, Gutsulyak and Dovbik were supposed to turn Volodymyr’s passes into goals. Adamyuk himself has long earned the reputation of a productive defender, capable of turning every transition to someone else’s half of the field into a real aggravation.
Central defender – Denis Popov (Dynamo)
In the match against Vorskla, the Kiev team didn’t have many reasons to be happy, except perhaps for restrained optimism from Lonveik’s debut and Popov’s successful return to the starting line-up, who for the first time in three weeks took a place in the starting lineup of the Kiev team. The crisis of Dynamo results would have been even more tangible if Poltava had won in the capital. However, Denis blocked two punches from Yurchenko and Seferi from lethal positions and pushed Marlison hard, even cruelly from the shock positions. Goal opponents – not his fault.
Central defender – Vladislav Baboglo (FC Alexandria)
Baboglo won a large number of martial arts, was reliable in power and riding wrestling. Paired with Melnyk, Vladislav played in such a way that PFC Lviv with its fast and young players could not score at the NSC Olimpiyskiy against the Oleksandriytsy.
Left back – Andrey Tsurikov (FC Alexandria)
The third goal in seven matches would be a solid indicator even for a modern striker, to say nothing of a left fullback. Tsurikov has always been a sharp defender with a good shot, but just this season, having such high-quality projectile carriers as Kalitvintsev, Rybalka or Tretyakov, Andrei revealed the qualities of a consistently scoring defender. A classy goal by PFC Lvov removed the question of the winner of the match at the NSC Olimpiyskiy.
Central midfielder – Oleksiy Dovgiy (Rukh)
Dovhyy did not immediately deserve the authority in the new team that he had in PFC Lviv or FC Oleksandriya. However, now for the third match in a row, the experienced breakwater helps Rukh with his goals. In a duel with Metalist 1925, which had every chance of ending with the defeat of the debutant coach Edmar, it was Dovgy who successfully connected to the corner and opened the scoring. In addition, he created a good duet with the young Sapuga – they complement each other.
Right midfielder – Vladislav Kalitvintsev (FC Alexandria)
In the last two matches, Kalitvintsev Jr. has a goal, two assists and a pass to an opponent’s own goal. In the opening match of the tour against the Lviv townspeople, Vladislav first scored himself, unscrewing such a pitch from the right flank that the ball flew into the goal, and then, with a timely pass, connected Tsurikov, who distinguished himself with his next goal. Let’s add that Kalitvintsev was generally active: he punched from different positions (including from a non-working, as it were, right foot) and participated in most of Alexandria’s combinations.
Attacking midfielder – Oleksandr Pikhalyonok (SC Dnipro-1)
Another top performance by Pikhalenok, who perfectly combined with Dovbik, Gutsulyak and Gorbunov, gave out a number of sharp passes and had chances to score. By the way, at the moment in which Alexander was throwing an opponent, the ball really rolled over his hand – there were grounds for a penalty. The main action of Pikhalenok is an excellent aggravating quirk on Kogut in an assist attack.
Attacking midfielder – Vladlen Yurchenko (Vorskla)
Skripnik decided to move away from 4-4-2, giving more space to Yurchenko under Marlison pushed forward. And Vladlen scored against Dynamo after the Brazilian whipped the ball in the fall under his blow, and could even bring the Poltava team a strong-willed victory, which would generally make his solo performance epic.
Left midfielder – Vyacheslav Churko (Zorya)
Let’s put the Luhansk insiders to the left, bearing in mind that it was on that flank that Vyacheslav gave out several sharp passes, cut the opponents’ formations with passes between the lines and performed well from the set pieces. By the way, Churko also started the effective combination, which Antyukh completed with a goal with the help of a rebound, in the depths of the field.
Forward – Roman Debelko (Kryvbas)
Two headers after the flank serves of Tatarkov and Nikitishin brought the long-awaited first victory to the Kryvyi Rih team after promotion, which Vernydub’s wards have already deserved for more than one round. By the way, Debelko for the first time under the new head coach made his way to the base and proved that he can be counted on.
Tour Coach – Patrick van Leeuwen (Dawn)
Veresk made himself respected with a rather bright game and was maximally motivated to break the “curse of the Avangard” and win the first truly home victory. However, the Luhansk team successfully used the advantages of the Dutch tactical scheme, having managed to build a counteraction against the power component of the rivals. The goal, rather late and at the same time not devoid of spontaneity due to the rebound, was in fact the logical conclusion of Zarya’s undertakings.
Analysis from the All-Ukrainian Association of Football Coaches – here.

We have several contenders for the title of the best replacement of the tour, however, one successful exit did not help the team win, others spent more time to prove themselves (Dnipro Kogut, for example, scored after 30 minutes on the field – and then in the majority). But the most controversial newcomer Zori proved that it was not in vain that he was taken from Dynamo. Antyukh significantly revived the game and scored the winning goal for Veres, even though the rebound from defender Volchenko was decisive there.
Edmure’s substitutions appealed – they allowed to turn the tide of the game. In particular, 21-year-old striker Chiruk, who only came on as a substitute for the third time, after filing another joker – Bychek – managed to drop the ball great on Gabelko, who, with the help of a rebound, scored against Rukhites.
The Brazilian striker was criticized more – after moving from Metalist 1925 to the Poltava club, he scored little, played just “gray” and even failed matches, and also brought trouble to his own net, as was the case in the last round. The match with Dynamo showed that Marlison is too early to write off. He well diverted the attention of his opponents and with the last of his strength in the fall he threw the ball under Yurchenko’s goal. There are also such assists.
Sitting on the bench for the entire season, so that in the first exit from the base to bring your team the first victory after promotion? Performed! Debelko pulled out the match with Ingulets, with his two goals greatly facilitating the work of Vernydub. An example for Khoblenko and Zotko – other old-timers of the team, who, to be honest, now cannot find themselves in the updated team.
