In stoppage time, Atlético were awarded a penalty after the referee had already given the final whistle, but Yannick Carrasco failed to convert a penalty.
With 5 points, Atlético remain in 3rd place in Group B, having lost the opportunity to catch Club Brugge (10) and Porto (9). Bayer closes the table with 4 points, one of these teams will continue the European season in the Europa League.
