Russian coach Dmitry Khoklov in an interview with , he explained why fewer and fewer players are leaving Russia to play abroad.
– Are you ready to compare the current Russian championship with what it was before international isolation?
– Lowered level. It’s hard to compare how much, because you’re cooking in your own juice, but the sag is there.
– It seemed to many that after the suspension of international competitions, our players would rush abroad. But not to say that the flow is particularly powerful. Are they not needed or are they well fed at home?
I think it’s a combination of reasons. And the demand is not very high and the salaries in Russia are too high, not all European clubs are ready to pay so much. I spoke with people who know: some of our people could count on something abroad, but given the political situation, few would dare to invite a player with a Russian passport. All other things being equal, preference will be given to a European or a Latin American.
Khokhlov from 2011 to 2015 worked in the Dynamo Moscow coaching staff, including heading the youth team. Then there was a short period in Kuban, after which the coach returned to Dynamo and from 2017 to 2019 worked with the main team of Muscovites.
The last club in Khokhlov’s career right now is Rotor (2021).
