The Flamengo shuttlecock displays an image with the latest trophy that adds to its display cases and is filled with greetings. The likes of Betis goalkeeper and Frenchman Franck Ribery shower him with greetings.
Arturo Vidal is happy. He has good reason to be. This Saturday he added the 25th title to his individual record, with a few additions: it is nothing less than the Copa Libertadores, with the Flamengo shirt, one of the clubs he has always said he wants to defend. And yet another, probably the most important, fulfilled one of the few dreams that remained to be fulfilled in a successful career.
The king expresses his emotions, as always. Since the final whistle of Mengao’s victory over Athletico Paranaense, in which he participated in the last game, he has not stopped sharing his feelings from his Instagram account, his favorite platform. If he first showed a more analytical profile and, to some extent, he gave the trophy to those who suggested he go to Rio de Janeiro “on vacation”, as the hours went by he left free run to joy. He was even shown in the locker room enjoying a cigar.
Pride
Today, Vidal is shown next to the Cup from the plane that brought the Rubo-Preto team back to Brazil. Again, with a message in his style. “Give it away, calm down, you’re already with daddy,” he posts, adding a series of emoticons that reflect his pride and joy.
This manifestation generates a series of reactions. Among them are the greetings of distinguished colleagues, such as Claudio Bravo. “How great!!! A pride for all! Congratulations. Hug, garoto,” wrote the Betis goalkeeper.
Bravo is joined by the likes of world football, such as Franck Ribery, with whom Vidal shared at Bayern Munich, and Claudio Marchisio, with whom he shared midfield at Juventus. There are also messages from Guillermo Maripán and Esteban Pavez. The most emphatic is that of Pablo Galdames. “The best in history”, salutes the Genoese midfielder.
