The Ukrainian Football Association wants tougher punishments for the aggressor countries for the war in Ukraine. The UAF is demanding the exclusion of the Russians from FIFA, and Iran from participating in the 2022 World Cup.
This decision was made at the meeting of the UAF Executive Committee, which took place today.
“Considering the actions of the Russian Football Union regarding the inclusion of football clubs and federations from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine in Russian competitions and in the structure of the RFU, appealed to FIFA and UEFA to take urgent that measures to respond to the actions of the RFU and apply the most severe sanctions against the RFU by excluding the RFU from membership of FIFA and UEFA;
Taking into account the media reports about the systematic manifestations of human rights violations in Iran, which may violate the principles and standards of the FIFA Charter, taking into account Resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council regarding the imposition of sanctions on Iran and the likely involvement of Iran in the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, apply to FIFA with a proposal to consider the exclusion of the Iranian national team from the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” the decision read .
Recall that the previous President of the UAF, Andrey Pavelko, said that the organization sought an exemption from UEFA and FIFA for Russia.
