Shakhtar ended the season in the Champions League with a heavy defeat from Leipzig

The Donetsk club got four unanswered goals from the German team.

As part of the final match of the Champions League group stage, Shakhtar Donetsk hosted Leipzig (Germany).

At the beginning of the minutes of the meeting, the teams looked close to each other, but the German team adapted to the opponent faster. Already in the first minutes, the “bulls” created a chance: Nkunku threw Werner, and he shot into the far corner, where Trubin quickly responded.

A few minutes later, the group made itself felt again, leading to a scored goal. Nkunku took the ball lost by Sudakov, threw it to Werner, who again failed to break Anatoly, but here Nkunku played for the finish.

The players fought hard, fouled, which led to the fact that Timo Werner left the field ahead of schedule, as he was injured after Stepanenko’s tackle.

Donetsk Shakhtar in the first half relied on throwing and solo passes, which were diluted by long-range shots. But none of it worked: Traore was offside, the flankers couldn’t beat the opponent, and all the shots were inaccurate.

Leipzig, who scored at the start, slowed down a bit, but their attacks were sharper. Nkunku had several chances, but failed to convert his chances, Soboslai and Forsberg hitting higher.

The second half started with Shakhtar attacks, but Leizpig scored a goal. The Germans launched an attack that saw chaos, with Simakan getting to the ball first and flicking Silva at the far post, who headed the ball into the near corner.

Igor Jovicevich made substitutions midway through the second half. Taylor, who had no time to adapt to the game, made a mistake, then Nkunku gave it to Soboslai, who converted a one-on-one exit – a loss.

Olmo showed an example of how to change. The football player spent a minute on the field and scored – Kampl and Olmo played a free kick, then Dani burst into the penalty area and shot into the corner, sending the ball into the goal from the post. It is worth noting that Bondar turned his head slightly, which is why the goal was rewritten for his own purpose.

At the end of the meeting, Shakhtar had a moment – Mudryk took the game to himself and shot from outside the free kick, but above the goal. Leizpig, on the other hand, continued to dominate and create chances, but they were disappointed by the accuracy or confidence that played in Trubin’s line.

Donetsk Shakhtar lost in the final round of the Champions League group stage, but will play in the European competition in the spring. The Pitmen took third place, allowing them to play in the Europa League. Real Madrid and Leipzig continued, while Celtic finished the season without.
