“For skill development, games with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are useless” – Kavazashvili

Former USSR national team goalkeeper Anzor Kavazashvili considers that the friendly matches announced Russian team do not make sense in terms of developing the skills of football players.

Earlier, the Russian national team coaching staff announced the final squad rosters for the fixtures with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which will be held on November 17 and 20 respectively.

– Why does the national team need four goalkeepers? I don’t know, it’s a question for the leadership of the Russian national team. I can’t say which of them is number one either, because I don’t know what’s going on in Valery Karpin’s head. Who do I personally like? They are not pretty girls to please. Who is better – he plays. The level of these goalkeepers is well known to us.

The problem is that it doesn’t matter how well these goalkeepers or outfield players perform. Now Karpin has the possibility to mix the team in the absence of official matches, but it will not work, because our rivals do not correspond to our level. In the matches with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, we will play at an average pace, with the advantage of the Russian team. These are intermediate encounters that only bring bonuses to players. We are just filling a void because no one wants to play with us. Such matches are useless for the skill development of the players,” Kavazashvili told .
