The midfielder of Brentford became the youngest Ukrainian player to make his debut in the main team of the English Premier League club in an official match
On Tuesday, November 8, Ukrainian midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk made his debut in the Brentford first team in an official match. The midfielder appeared in the 72nd minute of the game between Brentford and Gillingham in the 1/16 finals of the English League Cup (Brentford lost on penalties). Prior to that, Yarmolyuk was twice in a row in the reserve of his team at Premier League matches.
Thus, Yegor became the youngest Ukrainian footballer to make his debut in the main team of the Premier League club. At the time of entering the field, Yarmolyuk was a full 18 years old, and he surpassed the “debuts” of Alexander Zinchenko and Vitaliy Mykolenko: the first at the time of the opening match for Manchester City was 20 years old, the second – in his debut match for Everton – 22.
At the same time, it is worth noting that, like Zinchenko, Yarmolyuk made his debut in the English League Cup match, while Mykolenko played his first game for Irisok in the FA Cup.
Only Yarmolyuk and Zinchenko managed to make their debut in the first team of the Premier League club before the age of 21. For example, Andrei Voronin and Andrei Yarmolenko played their first official matches in England at the age of 28, Andrei Shevchenko – two months before their 30th birthday, Oleg Luzhny – almost at 31.
It is also noteworthy that the debut fights of three Ukrainians – Oleksandr Yevtushka, Sergey Rebrov and Andriy Yarmolenko – took place in the English Championship. Now we are waiting for the starting match of Yarmolyuk in the Premier League.
