Marcos Rocha talks about game changes with Abel: “Maturity”

Palmeiras right-back Marcos Rocha spoke about the changes in his style of play after the arrival of Abel Ferreira: “I improved the defensive part”

Starting in 52 of the 72 games of the season, the right-back of palm trees🇧🇷 Marcos Rocha, walks towards the end of another season in the team. Gaining the trust of the Portuguese technical commission of Abel Ferreirathe player won his second Brasileirão title this season.

🇧🇷I think it’s maturation, understanding how Abel was positioning me in a different role… This facilitated my growth to help the team. I was very happy for the year, very productive. I couldn’t score, but I participated a lot in the back-to-front constructions as Abel asks”, explained the side.

🇧🇷Abel was the guy who most stuck, making this three-way exit and building backwards. I took Felipão, Roger, Mano… I think Roger was the coach who gave me more freedom to get on the attack and I was elected the best (side) of the Paulista Championship (in 2018)”, said Marcos Rocha.

Still on the impacts of the Portuguese coach, Rocha continued: “It is difficult to adapt overnight, to change the characteristics. But with the passage of time, understanding and conversations, and with the arrival of Abel, when I improved this defensive part more. It was a year unscathed by grotesque flaws, so to speak. It’s a sign that at 33 I’m evolving, growing and understanding what the coach asks for. I am quite happy”🇧🇷

At the club since 2018, the side is only behind Dudu and Weverton in the number of games played wearing the shirt of Verdão, with 234 matches. There were eight titles won: two Campeonato Brasileiro (2018 and 2022), two Libertadores (2020 and 2021), one Copa do Brasil (2020), two Campeonato Paulista (2020 and 2022) and one Recopa Sul-Americana (2022).

In March 2022, Rocha renewed his contract with Alviverde, valid until the end of 2023. With only one year left, there has still been no proposal from the club for another renewal. However, the silence does not worry the player. 🇧🇷We haven’t talked (about renewal) yet. Anderson is a guy I trust a lot, the president… They know how happy I am to play for Palmeiras. I hope that in the future we can decide for a happy ending.”he said.
