Ukrainian cyclist Andrey Ponomar close to moving into world tour. 20-year-old Ukrainian is ready to join the French team Team Arkea Samsic.
Sexton has a contract until the end of the year with the Drone Hopper-Androni Giocattoli Team. Due to the financial problems of the title sponsor, the Italian team will not be able to provide the same level of budget next year. Androni Giocattoli from the Pro division will be relegated to the Continental Tour, and the team’s general manager Gianni Savio has advised current riders to find other career options if possible.
Andrey Ponomar is the 2019 European champion in the group race among juniors. Last year Andrey became the champion of Ukraine.
Team Arkea Samsik competed in the Pro division and, following the results of the three-year classification period 2020-22, reached the World Tour. In case of transfer, Ponomar will become the second Ukrainian in the elite division along with Mark Padun.
Yuliya Biryukova, a Ukrainian racer, competes for the Arkea Samsik women’s team. The Ukrainian has brought the only team victory this season, having won the fifth stage of the Women’s Tour of Thuringia.
