Sport Arena names the symbolic team of the next UPL round of the 2022/23 season
Goalkeeper – Dmitry Riznyk (Vorskla)
That rare case when the player of the losing team deserves distinction. Field teammates allowed more than ten shots (!) on Riznyk’s goal, of which he missed only one – from the penalty spot (another 11-meter shot, as well as several killer finishing moves, Dmitry parried). Someone, but the goalkeeper is less than others to blame for the defeat against Kryvbas.
Right back – Ilya Putrya (Chernomorets)
The Odessa club finally won, and the defender Putrya made a great contribution to this important victory. Ilya converted an early penalty, and it turned out to be the winning goal, and worked hard in this away match. FC Minaj created fewer dangerous chances than expected, and even after the removal of James, the back line of Chernomorets did not fail, only playing clean for the second time in the season.
Central defender – Alexander Mizyuk (Metalist)
The Kharkiv team met in a city derby with an opponent who had nowhere to retreat – it is clear that the 25th wanted to rehabilitate themselves for an indistinct start under Edmar and the match against the neighbors was better suited for this. However, Metalist’s defense didn’t give much operational space to the opponents and in many respects neutralized the potential advantage in high-speed attacks in space. We celebrate Mizyuk, who won a lot of wrestling and was reliable in martial arts.
Central defender – Igor Kurilo (Metalist 1925)
Kurilo’s debut season in the UPL showed that he does not even need to reach for its current level – he answers him. In the city derby with Metalist, Igor successfully played against such a dangerous opponent as Pryadun, and also played an important role in the offensive actions of his team through the first pass at different distances.
Left back – Boris Krushinsky (PFC Lviv)
We put a player on the left in defense, for whom the role of a fullback is not new. However, at Dulub, young Krushinsky opened up higher on the flank. In the derby against Rukh, Boris played actively and diligently throughout the entire length of the left edge, and after one of the corners from Boyko, he actually scored the winning goal for the townspeople.
Central midfielder – Oleksandr Pikhalyonok (SC Dnepr-1)
Pikhalyonok, one of the most rapidly progressing players in the modern UPL, gave another magnificent match. Traditionally, he could score on his own, but he revealed himself even more in the accompaniment: two of Dovbik’s three goals came from Oleksandr’s passes. Artem scored the second goal directly from an assist by Pikhalenok, the third one from a pass from Gromov, who was launched into the breakthrough by Sasha.
Right midfielder – Viktor Tsygankov (Dynamo)
Wonderful assists to Buyalsky and Lonwijk, as well as a few more good passes, only due to a misunderstanding, did not become assists – this is Tsygankov’s legacy, if we talk about team play. In addition, Victor could score on his own and, not without reason, claimed a penalty, although he got it at the moment when he was almost torn apart by a yellow T-shirt for alleged simulation.
Attacking midfielder – Dmitry Kryskiv (Shakhtar)
And again Kryskiv! Dmitry perfectly breaks into the Pitmen’s main team. In the match with Veres, Dmitry played on the right in midfield, but willingly changed zones with insiders and traditionally moved freely between the lines. Even in the first half, Kryskiv had several chances to score, including hitting the crossbar, and after the break, he took advantage of Stepanenko’s pass and clearly dealt with his opponents, delivering a striking blow almost completely surrounded.
Left midfielder – Artem Smolyakov (Ingulets)
Once again we celebrate the 19-year-old Smolyakov, the most pleasant discovery in Ingulets. In the match against Zorya, in which the opponent created a number of scoring chances and counted on three points in total, it was Lavrinenko’s wards who pulled out the victory. Marusich scored after a good flank pass from Artem, and Smolyakov himself had an excellent chance to double the score, but did not win the duel against Matsapura.
Forward – Artem Dovbik (SC Dnepr-1)
A complete advantage over rivals and a lot of scoring chances in every match – we can state that Dovbyk plays in class at the level of the Ukrainian Premier League. In Kovalevka, Artem scored three times – from the penalty spot, and also after good passes from Pikhalenok and Gromov. And he could score at least twice more. The best scorer of the group stage of the Conference League in the UPL did not score for almost a month, but in one match with Kolos he caught up with Buyalsky at the head of the scorers table.
Forward – Nazar Voloshin (Kryvbas)
The swift, technical Voloshin created a number of problems for the Vorskla defensive link. It was difficult for the Poltava team to keep him without a foul, in fact, it was Nazar who earned the first penalty in this nervous match. Later, Voloshin could score on his own and made a smart pass to Debelko’s move, but the teammate did not realize a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Tour coach – Sergey Lavrinenko (Ingulets)
Zorya is one of the best in quick attacks and creating sharp chances, but Ingulets managed to level and even tie her trump cards. On the contrary, it was Lavrinenko’s wards who quickly broke through in space due to split passes and sharp flank breakthroughs. And their efficiency in aggravation and completion is such that with three times fewer strikes, their accuracy turned out to be three times more than their opponent. Separately, we note the personnel work of the coaching staff – many players (and especially the young Smolyakov) are simply unrecognizable.
Joker of the tour – Artem Gromov (SC Dnepr-1)
Just six minutes after coming on as a substitute, the experienced Gromov provided an assist for Dovbik’s third goal. And in general, in Kovalevka, he revived the game and organically supported the initiative of the leader’s attack group. It’s good to have a player of this class and experience to improve as the game progresses.
The best young player of the tour – Boris Krushinsky (PFC Lviv)
The sudden discovery of Dulub – it turns out that the former left full-back Krushinsky is worthy of putting on the left, even the right-back Polegenko, even if someone from the group of reservists. Meanwhile, the 20-year-old is playing better and better on the left in midfield, scoring an important – de facto winning – goal in the city derby with Rukh.
The best legionnaire of the tour – Justin Lonwijk (Dynamo)
Lucescu has a hard time trusting newcomers, and the capable Dutchman Lonwijk felt it firsthand. Having already spent several good matches, and even quite liking the episodes, Justin managed to score from Tsygankov’s pass in just four minutes on the field. If foreigners are invited to the Premier League in our difficult times, then they are exactly like this – Lonwijk is a rather young player with excellent anthropometry and good inclinations. Mircea, with his experience, is able to break in “Kyiv Gullit” to a fairly decent master, both for the UPL level and even a little higher.
The hero of the tour is Artem Dovbik (SC Dnepr-1)
Three goals after four rounds of “silence” – Dovbik catches up with Buyalsky in first place in the scorer’s race.
