Samuel Rebollo, 20, was released after the institution did not consider him to sign his first professional contract.
A new drama is impacting Argentine football. It is about the suicide of Samuel Rebollo, a 20-year-old player belonging to the fourth division of Aldosivi , who took the decision to commit suicide after the Mar del Plata team decided to release him and not consider signing his first contract as a professional. He had arrived at the start of the season at the club (which recently descended to First National) after having passed through the minor divisions of Center North, Lanús and Platense.
The news shocked all of the Trans-Andean media, since the father of the unfortunate footballer accused the representation company of having some responsibility for what happened. “There is something behind it all. There is a company that represents him who will have to give me an explanation through the prosecutor. We were yesterday with his mom instead. I want to see cameras and everything” José Rebollo told Radio Miter.
“I still can’t figure out what’s going on. I just arrived from Buenos Aires in my province. I went to bring my son’s body. Samuel was whole, let everyone in football know,” he continued, later recounting how the last contact went. “He spoke to me before. I couldn’t find him the bus to come to Salta. He told me that today I have to be here, where I am today” he detailed.
This also coincides with the club’s version that the player has never shown suicidal behavior. “When we bury him tomorrow and give him eternal rest, I will return. It’s not going to end like this. He wasn’t my son, he was my friend. We talked every day. When he was released, I was ready for that.” tenuous.
Earlier, José Rebollo wrote a heartbreaking message for his son on social media: “You left a pain that will never heal, my black . I only ask God and Our Lady to give me the strength to continue in this nightmare. I will seek you, son, for your eternal rest,” he posted.

Before leaving, he left a letter and several goodbye audios, a painful situation which was later recounted by the victim’s mother. “He alludes to the great pain he felt because of what happened to him at Aldosivi, because of what he felt. He told us he felt useless, useless, tired. Before he left, my head was full of questions, because we know how difficult it is to get there. It was difficult for me to accept the club’s decision to release him and even more so the poor treatment of the coordinator,” he revealed.
In Chile, the Ministry of Health has a mental health and suicide prevention hotline by calling 600 360 777.
