Ten Hag set to sell Maguire in summer transfer window

Three years ago, the Red Devils paid £80m for the defender.

Main coach Manchester United Eric Ten Hag intends to sell the defender Harry Maguire during the summer transfer window. The Dutchman plans to rebuild the team, and the 29-year-old center back is not included in his plans.

Maguire’s contract runs until 2025 with an option to extend for another season. Harry joined Manchester United in 2019, the Red Devils paid Leicester £80m (approximately €87m) for him. The club’s management realizes that it is going to significant financial losses, because it will no longer be able to sell a defender for such an amount.

It was reported that Chelsea were interested in Maguire in the summer. Blues winger Christian Pulisic was supposed to be part of the deal.

This season, Maguire is losing the competition for a place at the base of Manchester United. The defender has nine matches for the club in all competitions, only in six he came out in the starting lineup.

Manchester United are fifth in the Premier League with 23 points. Ten Hag’s men will play Fulham next on 13 November.
