Pavelko: Getting ready for the return of teams from Kherson and the region to national competitions

The President of the UAF congratulated the residents of the city on the liberation from occupation

The president Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Pavelko congratulated the people of Kherson on the liberation of the city from Russian occupation. The head of the UAF said that preparations would soon begin for the return of Kherson teams to national competitions.

“I congratulate Kherson, all Kherson residents, including members of our UAF team, on their liberation from Russian invaders! Thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine! It is hard to even imagine what the inhabitants of the city had to endure during the 8 months of occupation… but Ukraine always wins! The courage of our soldiers and the faith of the entire Ukrainian people!

“At the UAF, we are preparing for the return of football teams from Kherson and the region to competitions among men’s, women’s and youth teams. How we are preparing for the revival of Ukrainian football throughout the territory of Independent Ukraine! We continue to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and believe in the liberation of all temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine! With Donetsk, Luhansk, Mariupol and Crimea! Glory to the heroes! Glory to the Armed Forces! Glory to Ukraine!”

Earlier, the Russian occupiers stated that they plan to create a single football championship for clubs from Abkhazia, South Ossetia, as well as the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea, Zaporozhye and Kherson. The “championship” was planned to be held in March-November 2023.

Also, the aggressors on the basis of the Kherson Crystal created a new football club called Frigate. It was headed by the former coach of Crystal Sergey Shevchenko. Later, the Kherson club officially declared that none of the Krystal employees had anything to do with the clubs of the occupiers.
