First German trophy in the tournament in 25 years
On Wednesday, May 18, Frankfurt Eintracht won the Europa League after beating the Scottish Rangers in the penalty shoot-out. First over the past 25 years, the Europa League/UEFA Cup victory for Germany has been the Eintracht trophy. Prior to this triumph, the last of their German clubs in the tournament, then the UEFA Cup, was won by Schalke, who beat Inter on aggregate.

Previously, two more goalkeepers managed to do this: Edwin van der Sar (40 years and 211 days in the 2011 Champions League final) and Dinu Zoffy (41 years and 86 days in the 1983 European Cup final).
