The International Football Federation did not argue with the leadership of the host country of the tournament.
The 2022 World Cup stadium will not sell alcohol. Now it’s official. FIFA has issued an official notice on the sale of beer during the World Cup in Qatar.
The International Football Federation did not argue with the Arab country’s leadership and canceled its consent, which would have cost the organization a solid sponsorship contract.
“Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, it has been decided to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Fest, other fan venues and licensed premises, removing beer outlets from 2022 World Cup stadiums of Qatar.
This will not affect the sale of non-alcoholic Bud Zero, which will remain available at all World Cup stadiums in Qatar.
Host country authorities and FIFA will continue to ensure that stadiums and surrounding areas guarantee an enjoyable, respectful and enjoyable experience for all fans.
The tournament organizers thank AB InBev for understanding and continuing to support our shared commitment to serve everyone during the 2022 World Cup,” FIFA said in a statement.
Note that the sale of beer is provided by the contract between FIFA and Budweiser. The value of the agreement is estimated at $75 million.
It was previously reported that Qatari authorities are putting strong pressure on FIFA over the sale of alcohol, demanding a ban.
