Sport Arena names the symbolic team of the next UPL round of the 2022/23 season
Goalkeeper – Bogdan Kohut (Veres)
Dynamo created enough chances – 15 shots on goal from Rivne, six on target. If not for the experienced goalkeeper, Veres from the capital could have come back with a rout. Kogut rescued the visiting hosts five times, and at the time of Tsygankov’s kick, it’s hard to blame Bogdan – the kick was perfect in execution. I wonder what the course of the match would have been like if it had been in Rivne at Avangard, and even with the presence of Red-Black fans?
Right back – Taras Dmitruk (FC Minai)
At the end of the match, the Minays snatched three points in the confrontation with Metalist, and one of those who deserved positive marks for this match was the young full-back Dmytruk, who broke into the main team of Transcarpathians. Taras himself shot at the Kharkiv team’s goal, and in the 87th minute he successfully served from the right flank, and it was Vishnevsky who closed his serve, scoring the winning goal.
Central defender – Maxim Kovalev (Ingulets)
Bartulovich lost his debut match at the head of Ingulets, although something else was hardly expected from the trip to Dynamo, but he did not lose three points against a competitor in the fight for survival. We are celebrating the third “dry” match of the Petrovsky club in the season – the Lviv citizens attacked, but could not do anything in front, mainly punching from afar. And Kovalev played smoothly, although his partner was replaced at half-time, and the back line was rebuilt compared to previous matches. Maxim also managed to connect to the standards to other people’s gates.
Central defender – Igor Kurilo (Metalist 1925)
Kryvbas played the first home match in their hometown after being promoted, which in itself guaranteed a tough job for the defence. Kurilo performed surprisingly well at his gate, winning most of the martial arts – both one-on-one on the ground and in the air, as well as making a fairly large number of interceptions and tackles. In addition, Igor connected to the standards and punched through the hosts’ goal. By the way, Kurilo was recognized as the best player of Metallist 1925 in this match according to the fans (average score 7.0 – very good).
Left back – Bohdan Butko (Zorya)
Zorya has Danchenko – it would seem, where is Butko here? However, van Leeuwen found a use for the ex-collection. Bogdan plays on the left flank of Luhansk defense and looks quite organic in this role. In the match with the Alexandrians, Butko not only interacted well with Antyukh and Rusin, but also created a threat himself. It was this defender who responded to Mishnev’s excellent pass, kicking the goalkeeper and opening the scoring. And later he played a great corner with Buleza, bringing Zorya’s advantage to devastating.
Central midfielder – Artem Chelyadin (Vorskla)
A strong match from Chelyadin, who this season is useful to Vorskla in several positions at once in two lines. In Kovalevka, Artyom himself punched through the opponents’ goal, but he played especially effectively in the underplay. It was Chelyadin’s pass that opened the scoring in Seferi’s match, and in the moment with Stepanyuk’s goal, Artem successfully played in the initial phase of the attack.
Right midfielder – Viktor Tsygankov (Dynamo)
The Kyivians have lost too many points this season to afford a misfire in a sudden home match against Veres. However, getting three points would have been especially difficult, if not impossible, if not for Tsygankov’s strong performance. Victor immediately hit the Rovno residents several times, and it was he who, after a simple pass from Vanat, scored the only goal in the match with a kick for execution. In addition, Tsygankov gave out surprisingly penetrating passes, which his teammates were obliged to use (the best moment was, probably, with Garmash).
Attacking midfielder Alexander Pikhalenok (SC Dnepr-1)
Goal and assist by the leader of the middle line of Dnipro-1. Playing against his native club, Pikhalyonok first scored himself, completing a multi-move with the participation of Dovbik and Gutsulyak, and then performed an assist under the decisive goal from Artem. Oleksandr continues to progress, while this season he is at a consistently high level making the difference in the matches of the new leader of the championship.
Attacking midfielder – Sergei Buleta (Zorya)
Buleza played an absolutely top game against Alexandria: the second goal of the hosts during the attack with the participation of Danchenko and Churko, an assist on Butko, and also hit the crossbar and gave magnificent passes to Antyukh and Mishnev (who did not become goals only because of bad luck and flaws at the end of attacks).
Left midfielder – Mikhail Mudryk (Shakhtar)
The miners lost, but personally Mudryk played well. He was convincing in one-on-one play and absorbed space with ease. His goal, albeit with a clear mistake by the goalkeeper, is really well-deserved – Mikhail overcame a serious distance and hit the target, and there already a rebound, an unsuccessful goalkeeper grip or just blocking the inspection could really do their job. Mudryk did a great job after the break too – after his subtle pass, Sikan could score, and one more shot by Mikhail (in our opinion, even the best one) was pulled by Valef.
Forward – Artem Dovbik (SC Dnipro-1)
We already know Dovbik’s level and have no doubts about his class at the all-Ukrainian level, but the match against Shakhtar is a rare chance to see him in conditions close to European competitions. If you evaluate Artem like this, he passed the test. From the beginning of the match, Dovbik began shelling Trubin’s goal, gave an elegant pre-goal pass with his heel to Gutsulyuk, who laid the ball under Pikhalenka’s kick. In general, Artem shot at the Pitmen’s goal five times, and scored with a rather refined shot – and it was the winning goal of the central match of the round.
We were all waiting for a real test for the leader – and here we are. The miner, who was not confused and disassembled at the beginning of the season, but already played and confident in his abilities after the Champions League group stage, was worthy to test the strength of a new contender for gold medals. The coachman put up a simulated formation against his native club, but could not use a number of important players (Blanco, Luchkevich, Gromov, Purita). Having conceded – perhaps intentionally – in possession, the Dnipro team did not lose in sharpness, and the high class of their leaders set the most difficult tasks for Shakhtar’s defense, which are only possible at the level of the UPL. The victory of Dnepr-1 is not only a story of situational success, a serious leader’s lead confirms that the renewed team, which the new coaching staff assembled and played, really turned out to be qualitatively stronger than other participants in this difficult, specific season.
Already in the 21st minute of the match with PFC, Lvov Bartulovich had to replace the injured Kozak, and already five minutes after the “joker” Marusich entered the field, he got hooked on a yellow card. However, what is good about Maxim is the ability to play outside the box. He caught the ball on his foot and scored one of the best goals of the tour, bringing the debut victory to the team with a renewed coaching staff.
The 20-year-old striker from Kiev had a pretty good match with Veres in terms of his role – he broke into shock positions several times, gave targeted passes, worked out in pressure without the ball. However, Vanat made the sixth effective action in the current championship by giving a regular pass to the neighbor – it was from his pass that Tsygankov scored the winning goal against the Rovno team.
Let’s be honest: even this summer, more eminent legionnaires came to the crisis UPL of wartime, but the 26-year-old striker of the Albanian national team managed to find himself in the Vorskla and even added new colors to the team. In the presence of Stepanyuk and Marlison, Seferi plays more from the flank and looks organic in this capacity. At the Kolos-Arena, Taulant immediately sharpened the game several times and scored an important – the first in a difficult away match – a goal.
The 10th goal of the season from the leader of the scorer race brought the championship leader victory in the central match of the tour, and before that Dovbyk scored the so-called “pre-assist”, connecting Gutsulyak to the attack with the fifth, from whose pass Pikhalyonok opened the scoring.
