Flick’s team conceded two goals at the end of the match
Germany sensationally lost Japan (1:2) in the first round of group E World Cup 2022.
Hans-Dieter Flick’s team took the lead in the middle of the first half thanks to the efforts of Ilkay Gundogan, who converted a penalty. Kai Havertz extended Germany’s lead before half-time, but the midfielder’s goal was overruled after watching video replay.
In the 75th minute, Japan bounced back – a scoring shot scored by Freiburg midfielder Ritsu Doan. And in the 83rd minute, the Japanese took the lead in everything thanks to an accurate shot by Takuma Asano.
Spain and Costa Rica will also play in Group E today. The beginning is at 18:00 Kyiv time.
In the second round, Germany will meet with Spain, and Japan with Costa Rica. The fights will take place on November 27th.
