Benzema retired from the French national team

The Real Madrid striker has decided to focus his efforts on matches at the club level.

Karim Benzema has announced his retirement from international football. The forward of the French national team has announced that he is ending playing for the national team, the 35-year-old player said about it on his Instagram.

“I did my best and made mistakes to become who I am today. And I’m proud of it! I wrote my story, and our common now ends,” wrote the Real Madrid striker.

Note that the player made his debut in the national team 15 years ago in March 2007 in a friendly match against Austria. Coming on as a substitute, after nine minutes the striker scored the only goal of that meeting.

In total, Benzema defended the colors of France in 97 matches and scored 37 goals for him. The striker was injured before the start of the World Cup in Qatar and did not play a single match here.
