The Portuguese specialist Paulo Fonseca sees himself in the future as a mentor of the “blue-yellow” team.
He doesn’t want to coach the Portuguese national team, but he wants to be the coach of Ukraine. Such desire was expressed by the former head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk, Paulo Fonseca.
In an interview with La Voix des Sports cited by Le Petit Lillois, the specialist said that he is currently happy at Lille and has no intention of leaving the club. However, in the future I would not mind working with the Ukrainian team.
“Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be in charge of Portugal anytime soon. I’m happy at Lille and I want to continue this project.
Being the coach of the national team is really difficult. It’s a different job. I don’t think now is the time to think about it. I don’t make plans for the future. But if I had anything, one day I would like to be the coach of the Ukrainian national team,” said the 49-year-old Portuguese.
Recall that Paulo Fonseca managed Shakhtar Donetsk from 2016 to 2019. He led the Pitmen to the championship of Ukraine and the Cup three times.
This summer, the specialist led the French Lille. After 15 rounds of the championship, the “dogs” under his leadership are in seventh place, with 26 points in the asset.
