Doctors of the former leader of the Brazilian national team Pele reports a deterioration in the health of the ex-attacker.
“Edson Arantes do Nascimento Hospital is experiencing a negative evolution of cancer, and therefore requires more intensive care due to renal and cardiac dysfunction,” the Sao Paulo clinic said in a statement.
Pelé, 82, has been admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo since November 29 for a reassessment of colon cancer treatment. He was later diagnosed with a respiratory infection.
Pelé, with the Brazilian national team, won the world championships in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
