The head of the RFU’s refereeing committee spoke about the transition to the Asian Football Confederation

If the leadership of the Russian Football Union (RFU) deems it necessary and expedient to work in the Asian region, Russian referees will work there, the head of the refereeing committee said in an interview with . RFS Pavel Kamantsev .

The vote on the transfer of Russian football from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is expected to take place before December 31, 2022.

– The RFU is about to move to the AFC. Will this be a way out for the referees?

All of these issues are complex. Basically, you live in microdistrict number 7, and move to microdistrict number 8. In fact, each confederation has its own attitudes and expectations, you have to understand what we are going to gain and what we are going to lose. If the RFU management deems it necessary and appropriate to work in the Asian region, we will work there.

With all my love for refereeing, we are a secondary link. The main teams of Russia are the main, youth, youth, as well as clubs. I believe that the executive committee will make a decision in the interest of the overall development of football in the country. And not from where the referees will serve the matches.

All the referees know English, they can work even in the Suriname championship, even in Australia, America or Canada, in any exotic or non-exotic country, Kamantsev told .

At the end of February, UEFA and the International Football Federation (FIFA) suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
