Demenko called a possible move to Asia the best option for the RFU

Former Spartak footballer Maxim Demenko believes that the best option for the Russian Football Union (RFU) will be the transition to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The RFU’s communication service said on Tuesday that the postponement of the vote on the transfer of Russian football from UEFA to the AFC is due to the need for further consultations. The media reported that the executive committee on the transition to the AFC will be held on December 30.

“To date, it’s the best option in any case. Expect nothing, depend on someone in the future. And so we will have games, we can progress. I think this is the best option.

Can Japan, South Korea and Australia refuse to play with us? It will be their problem. And where will they go if they take us to Asia? To be honest, we are already tired of all their penalties and such. They are sitting there thinking about something for themselves. Then we will play regardless of everything,” Demenko said as quoted by Gazeta.ru.

At the end of February, UEFA and FIFA suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
