Legendary defender delighted with Mudrik’s performance in the Champions League
Former England and Liverpool defender, now pundit Jamie Carragher commented on the possible transfer of winger Shakhtar Mikhail Mudrik in Arsenal.
“They [Арсенал] are chasing Mikhail Mudrik. I watched him in the Champions League, he looked incredible on the left flank. Arsenal have Gabriel Martinelli there right now – maybe one of them will go to the center?
“If Arsenal want to compete with Manchester City – they’re doing it right now, but I’m talking about all competitions and over the next few years, like Liverpool did – they need options off the bench. Arteta knows this better than anyone from his time at Manchester City.”
“So I think Mudrik would be a really great signing for Arsenal from what we’ve seen in the Champions League.”
Previously, the Miners had rejected the Gunners’ previous official request for 55 million pounds. Arsenal has prepared a new, improved proposal for Mikhail.
At the same time, the Ukrainian has already agreed on the personal terms of the contract. It is assumed that Mikhail will sign a five-year agreement with the Gunners.
This season, the midfielder has made 18 appearances for Shakhtar in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists.
The Gunners lead the Premier League with a seven-point lead over nearest rival Manchester City. Shakhtar are in second place in the Premier League.
